Fruit Of Life Empty Fruit Of Life

Let's say I have one copy of Fruit of Life (1-107) on my field. My opponent attacks with ThunderDragon El Clair (4-10), a 2 gem spirit. Will I get to draw 2 card since 2 damage was inflicted? And if Fruit of Life is at level 2, will I also gain 2 cores?

You would only draw 1 and gain 1 since it says "When ANY damage is dealt to your life" so if you take 2 by 1 spirit, you would lose 2 life at once, so you only get the effect once
